Car Park Capital is out in Early Access: PC requirements, Linux and Steam Deck

Car Park Capital launched in Early Access on Steam on October 9. It asks for 8 GB of RAM, an OpenGL 4.2+ GPU and 1 GB of storage, runs natively on Linux, and here is our estimate for Steam Deck.

Car Park Capital launched in Early Access on Steam on October 9, and for almost any PC the news is good: it asks for very little. It is a strategy and simulation game from Hilkojj Interactive, published by MicroProse, where your job is to convince people to buy a car and fill the town with parking lots that pay you every day. It costs $15.29 with the 10% launch discount. When we checked the data, it had 1,115 concurrent players on Steam.

Car Park Capital PC requirements

These are the Windows requirements from the Steam page:

MinimumRecommended
GPUOpenGL 4.2+ compatibleOpenGL 4.2+ compatible
CPUNot specified (64-bit)Not specified (64-bit)
RAM8 GB8 GB
Storage1 GB1 GB
OSWindows 10 64-bitWindows 10 64-bit

The minimum and recommended specs are identical. The studio does not name a specific graphics card. It only asks for OpenGL 4.2 or higher support. It does not name a processor either, only that it must be 64-bit. At canirun we treat that OpenGL line as a floor of 2,500 benchmark points, and that is the bar your card is measured against.

Which graphics cards run it

Every popular GPU we checked clears both the minimum and the recommended spec, and all of them grade S (“Overkill”), measured against the recommended requirement. That includes cards that are several years old, like the GTX 1650, the GTX 1060 6GB and the Radeon RX 580. Newer entry-level cards like the RTX 3050 qualify too.

Our grades assume 16 GB of RAM. The game asks for 8 GB at both minimum and recommended, so 8 GB already covers what the studio lists. If your rig is modest, our list of games for low-end PCs has more options like this one.

Linux, Mac and Steam Deck

It has a native Linux version with the same requirements: 8 GB of RAM, OpenGL 4.2+ and 1 GB of storage. If you play on Linux, also check our Linux games list. There is no Mac version on Steam.

On Steam Deck, Valve has not verified the game yet. Our spec-based estimate gives it an A and puts it above the minimum, but that is only an estimate built from the listed requirements, not a real-world test. The details are on the game’s Steam Deck page.

What’s in Early Access

According to the launch announcement, you can already pave over Baldtown City, Florida and the Pyramids of Giza. You can drill for oil, put up pro-car billboards and send riot police after protesters. The soundtrack is by Kent Kercher, made with actual 90s synthesizers. The developer, Hilko, says he will keep shipping updates on the road to the full version.
