Chained Beasts PC requirements: out today, low specs, Mac and Steam Deck

Chained Beasts, Featherweight Games’ co-op gladiator roguelike for 1 to 4 players, launches today, October 15, on Steam at 10:00 AM PDT / 5:00 PM UTC. It also arrives day one on Game Pass for Xbox and Windows PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The good news for your PC is that it asks for very little: a GeForce GTX 1050 and 8 GB of RAM at minimum. It also has a native Mac version. For the first 2 weeks it costs $12.99 USD on Steam, 35% off the regular $19.99 USD.

You can play alone, with up to 4 friends online with cross play, or in couch co-op. The launch version has 9 battles across 3 acts, 10 difficulty levels, over 70 afflictions, more than 70 skills and 8 beasts to unlock. The studio has already announced a 1.1 update for December with a new arena, boss, weapon and enemies. It also wants to add a PVP mode in Q1 2027.

The Steam page only lists the minimum. The recommended tier is empty apart from the note that it needs a 64-bit processor and operating system.

One note matters more than the graphics card: same-screen co-op needs at least 1 gamepad.

Which cards run it

With no recommended tier on Steam, the minimum is the only bar, and every popular card on our list clears it. That includes the modest ones, like the GTX 1650, the Radeon RX 580 and the GTX 1060 6GB. What about Mac, Linux and Steam Deck?

On Mac, the minimum is macOS 11, an Apple M1 or an Intel i7-6920HQ, 8 GB of RAM and Apple M1 or Radeon Pro 450 graphics. If you play on an M1 Mac or newer, you are covered. You can see what else runs in our Mac games list. The store page does not list a native Linux version.

On Steam Deck, Valve has not verified it yet. Our estimate, based only on the specs, gives it a C. Treat that as a rough guide until Valve publishes its rating, and check the game’s Steam Deck page.
