Gray Zone Warfare’s Update 0.5, Rogue Ops, gets its full release today, October 22. Supporter Edition owners have been playing it in a preview since October 19, and that preview produced the warning that matters most if you play on a GeForce card: according to the October 21 hotfix note, MADFINGER Games was still working on a bug that caused blurry visuals for some players on NVIDIA GPUs, most noticeable on vegetation. The studio said the final changelog would be posted with the release, so that is where to check whether the fix made it in.
What happened in the preview
On October 21, MADFINGER pushed Hotfix 0.5.0.0 (1) to the supporters-preview branch, the one used for the Supporter Preview. It fixed three things:
- servers freezing and leaving players unable to connect
- some vendors being downgraded to a lower level
- the UI becoming unresponsive when skipping the prologue with a new character
In the same note, the studio wrote that it was still working on the blurry visuals bug on NVIDIA GPUs and would fix it as soon as possible. It is a problem found during the preview: the note does not say whether it is still present in the version releasing to everyone today.
On performance, the Rogue Ops feature list mentions optimization, technical improvements, improved lighting, a clouds refactor and new anti-cheat measures. The preview list gives no numbers, and its changelog was marked as not final.
Content-wise, Rogue Ops adds the Hideout with crafting, smuggling and hunting, multiple playable characters, 7 new weapons and 340+ weapon parts. It also comes with a partial wipe: you keep tasks, rank, apparel, vendor levels and stats, but your locker and money are wiped. The first time you log in, you choose which mode your character moves to, and that choice is irreversible.
What to do if your game looks blurry
The October 21 note gives no setting or workaround for the bug: it only says the fix will come as soon as possible. Check the final 0.5 changelog, which the studio said it would post with the release, to see whether it includes the fix. If you run into the bug, MADFINGER asks players to report it to its support team. And if an update does not show up in Steam, the studio recommends restarting Steam to trigger the download.
