over the hill launches today: PC requirements, Linux and Steam Deck
over the hill, from the creator of art of rally, launches today on Steam. It asks for a GTX 1070 or RX 5600, 8 GB of RAM and 4 GB of storage. Here is which GPUs clear the minimum, how it stands on Linux and what to expect on Steam Deck.

over the hill, the new game from Funselektor, the studio behind art of rally, launches today, October 14, on Steam. It is an off-road driving game, not a racing game: you take 4x4 vehicles from the 60s to 80s across trails, solo or with up to three friends. You use planks and winches to get across the terrain, and dynamic weather and a day/night cycle change the conditions of the trip. What matters if you play on PC: the studio only published minimum requirements, and some very popular GPUs fall below them.
over the hill PC requirements
These are the Windows requirements listed on the Steam page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | Nvidia GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX 5600 | Not listed |
| CPU | Intel Core i5-7400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 | Not listed |
| RAM | 8 GB | Not listed |
| Storage | 4 GB | Not listed |
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Not listed |
The recommended section on Steam is empty, so the minimum is the only official reference for now. According to the studio’s note, those specs were tested at Full HD resolution. The game also needs DirectX 11 and a broadband internet connection.
Which GPUs clear the minimum
Based on our data, the RTX 3050, the RTX 2060, the Radeon RX 6600 XT and the Intel Arc B580 clear the minimum. The RTX 3060, RTX 4060 and RX 7600 clear it too.
The GTX 1660 Super, the GTX 1060 6GB, the GTX 1650 and the Radeon RX 580 fall below the minimum. With no official recommended spec, the question that really matters today is whether your GPU reaches the minimum, and for those four cards the answer is no.
Linux, Steam Deck and Mac
Steam lists SteamOS + Linux support, with the same processor, RAM, graphics and storage requirements as on Windows. If you play on Linux, you can find more options in our list of Linux games. There is no Mac version.
On Steam Deck, Valve has not verified it yet. Our spec-based estimate gives it an F and puts it below the published minimum, but that is only an estimate built from the numbers, not a test. When Valve rates it, you will see it on the over the hill Steam Deck page.
