The Jackbox Party Pack 12 launches today, October 14, on Steam for Windows, macOS and Linux, with five new games for groups of 2 to 8 players: We Forgot a Card, MegaPals, Debate and Switch, Idol Factions and Hyperface. The Steam page lists October 14 and says it unlocks in approximately 11 hours, although the October 1 trailer announcement said October 15. What matters if you play on PC: it asks for very little, and only one person needs to own the game. Everyone else joins from a phone or any web-enabled device, so the only machine that has to meet the requirements is the one hosting.
The Jackbox Party Pack 12 PC requirements
These are the Windows requirements from the Steam page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | GeForce 500+ / Radeon 5000+ or greater | GeForce 600+ / Radeon 6000+ |
| CPU | 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo or greater | 2.33 GHz Quad Core or greater |
| RAM | 4 GB | 8 GB |
| Storage | 3 GB | 3 GB |
| OS | Windows 10+, 64-bit | Windows 10+, 64-bit |
Both tiers require a 64-bit processor and operating system and a broadband internet connection, which makes sense for a game where everyone connects from their phone.
Which GPUs run it
None of the popular GPUs we checked falls short: every one clears both the minimum and the recommended, and every one grades S (Overkill), measured against the recommended requirement. That covers everything from a GTX 1650 or an RX 580 to a GTX 1060 6GB or an Arc B580. Our grades assume 16 GB of RAM; 4 GB meets the minimum and 8 GB gets you to the recommended.
If your PC has a few years on it, this pack will not be the problem. And if you want more games that go easy on modest hardware, check our list of games for low-end PCs.
Mac, Linux and Steam Deck
On Mac it needs macOS 13 or later, with the same processor, RAM and storage as on Windows. The difference is the GPU: on Mac the recommended tier is the same as the minimum, GeForce 500+ / Radeon 5000+. On Linux the minimum is Ubuntu 18.10 and the recommended is Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, with the same hardware as Windows. You will find more options in our lists of Mac games and Linux games.
Valve has not rated the game for Steam Deck yet. On specs alone, the Deck clears the minimum and our estimate puts it at an A, but that is only a spec-based estimate, not a test. The details are on the game’s Steam Deck page.
