Beyond These Stars is out on PC: price, which GPUs run it and Steam Deck rating

Beyond These Stars is now playable on PC. Version 1.0 launched October 16 on Steam with a 20% launch discount, which brings it to $23.99. It’s the city builder from Balancing Monkey Games, published by Hooded Horse. You build a city on the back of a Space Whale and manage supply chains as you journey through the stars. On October 15 we covered its requirements ahead of launch. Now that it’s out, here’s which GPUs run it and how Valve rates it on Steam Deck.

As we write this, it has 534 concurrent players on Steam. If you’re just starting, the launch announcement points to a beginner’s guide. The guide covers building your settlement, caring for your Peeps and Kewa, terraforming, technology and perks. It’s Windows only: Steam doesn’t list a Mac or Linux version.

Beyond These Stars PC requirements

These are the official requirements from the Steam page:

The install is small, but the studio recommends an SSD in both tiers. One more detail: the minimum lists DirectX 11 and the recommended lists DirectX 12.

Which GPUs run it

Every GPU we checked clears the minimum, even the GTX 1650. What changes is the headroom. Grades are measured against the recommended requirement and assume 16 GB of RAM:

• RTX 5080: S, more power than it needs.
• RTX 4070, RTX 5070 or RX 9070 XT: A, plenty of headroom.
• RTX 3060, RTX 4060 or RX 7600: B, they meet the recommended.
• GTX 1660 Super, RTX 2060, RTX 3050 or Arc B580: C, between the minimum and the recommended. The RX 6600 XT also lands at C on our scale, even though Steam names it in the recommended specs.
• GTX 1060 6GB and RX 580: D, they clear the minimum but will struggle.
• GTX 1650: clears the minimum but grades F against the recommended. The game launches, with little headroom.

RAM works the same way: 8 GB gets you to the minimum, and the recommended asks for 16 GB.
