Modern Warfare 4 PC requirements: SSD required, RTX 3060 Ti for 90 fps

Activision posted the official PC requirements for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on September 29. The game launches October 23 on Steam, Battle.net and Xbox on PC. Digital pre-orders get Campaign Early Access starting October 16, and PC preloading opens October 15 at 9AM PT. The good news is that the minimum is accessible, with a GTX 970 or GTX 1060. The less good news: an SSD is required, and the game needs TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot turned on.

Modern Warfare 4 PC requirements

On the Steam page the requirements are listed as TBD and the date shows October 22. These numbers come from the official Call of Duty blog:

The recommended spec targets 90 FPS in multiplayer on High settings. Activision also published a profile for High quality ray tracing at 4K upscaled, and that one is demanding: an RTX 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT with 16 GB of VRAM, a Ryzen 7 3700X or Core i7-10700K, and 32 GB of RAM. To claw back performance you get DLSS 4.5, FSR Redstone and XeSS 3, and there is a built-in benchmark tool that suggests settings for your system.

Which graphics cards run it, per canirun

We checked the requirements against canirun’s benchmark scores. Grades are measured against the recommended requirement and assume 16 GB of RAM:

• RTX 3060: meets the recommended with a B, same as the RTX 3060 Ti Activision lists. If you have one, see what else your RTX 3060 runs.
• RTX 2060: clears the minimum and grades C, which puts it between the minimum and the recommended. It runs, but below what the recommended spec is aiming for, so upscaling will be your friend. More on the RTX 2060 page.
• GTX 1060 6GB: it is on the official minimum list and canirun grades it D: it clears the minimum but will struggle. Details on the GTX 1060 6GB page.
• Arc B580: watch this one. Activision lists it under recommended, but with its canirun score it grades C and does not reach the recommended. Arc cards also need Resizable BAR enabled.

Steam Deck and the checks that are not your GPU

Even if your card passes, a few other things can lock you out:

• TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are required to play on PC, as part of the RICOCHET anti-cheat.
• Only Intel and AMD processors with the AVX instruction set are supported.
• The SSD is required at both minimum and recommended.
• There is no Mac or Linux version: it is Windows only.
