Nivalis Nights is out on PC: RTX 4070 recommended and an SSD required

Nivalis Nights launched on Steam on September 29. Here are its minimum and recommended PC requirements, which popular GPUs clear them according to canirun, the Steam Deck result and whether your PC can run it.

  1. Nivalis Nights PC requirements
  2. Which graphics cards run it
  3. What about Steam Deck, Mac or Linux?
  4. Can your PC run Nivalis Nights?

Nivalis Nights, the game from ION LANDS and 505 Games where you run restaurants and nightclubs, go fishing, decorate your apartment and make friends in a cyberpunk city that stretches from the ocean to the clouds, launched on Steam on September 29, Windows only. It costs $24.99, with a limited-time 10% launch discount that brings it to $22.49. It arrived with 1 million wishlists and currently has 4,975 concurrent players. What matters if you play on PC: for a game about business and city life, it asks for a lot of hardware.

Nivalis Nights PC requirements

These are the official requirements from the Steam page:

MinimumRecommended
GPUGTX 1660 Super or RTX 3050, RX 6600 or Arc A750 (6 GB VRAM)RTX 4070 or RX 7800 XT (12 GB VRAM or more)
CPUCore i5-11600K or Ryzen 5 3600Core i5-13600K or Ryzen 5 7600
RAM16 GB16 GB
Storage42 GB on SSD42 GB on SSD
OSWindows 10 64-bitWindows 11 64-bit

The minimum targets 1080p at 30 fps on the “very low” preset; the recommended targets 1440p at 60 fps on “high”. Both are measured at native resolution with no upscaling, and both require an SSD. Watch the memory: 16 GB is already the minimum, so an 8 GB machine falls short even with a good graphics card. For laptops, the studio lists an RTX 4050 Laptop with 6 GB of VRAM as the minimum and an RTX 4080 Laptop or RTX 5080 Laptop with 12 GB or more as the recommended, and warns that mobile GPUs perform below their desktop equivalents.

Which graphics cards run it

canirun grades are measured against the recommended requirement, with 16 GB of RAM:

  • Meet the recommended: the RTX 4070, RTX 5070 and RX 9070 XT grade B, and the RTX 5080 reaches A.
  • Tight: the RTX 3070 lands at C, between minimum and recommended.
  • Clear the minimum but struggle: the RTX 3060, RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 4060, RX 7600, RX 6600 XT, Arc B580 and RTX 2060 grade D. They run it, with little headroom.
  • Right at the line: the GTX 1660 Super and RTX 3050 clear the minimum but grade F against the recommended. It launches, and you will be playing on very low settings.
  • Below the minimum: the GTX 1650, GTX 1060 6GB and RX 580 fall short.

The most common midrange cards clear the minimum, but the high preset at 1440p calls for something in the RTX 4070 class.

What about Steam Deck, Mac or Linux?

Valve has not rated the game for Steam Deck yet, and by canirun’s data the Deck falls below the minimum, grading F. You can see the details on the game’s Steam Deck page. There is no Mac or Linux version: the game launched on Windows only.
