VRChat 2026.3.3 moves to Unity 6: what PC do you need to run it?
VRChat released version 2026.3.3 with Unity 6, a Desktop HUD, a keyboard refresh and a News module. Here are the PC requirements on Steam, which GPUs clear the minimum and how it does on Steam Deck.
In this guide 5
VRChat released version 2026.3.3 on October 2, and the change under the hood is a big one: the game moves to Unity 6. It also brings a Desktop HUD, a keyboard refresh and a News module so you can watch the patch notes inside VRChat itself. The game is free and had 45,949 concurrent players on Steam when we put this together, so plenty of people are wondering whether their PC still keeps up. The announcement does not mention any performance or requirement changes.
What release 2026.3.3 brings
- Unity 6: the engine gets upgraded. If you build worlds or avatars, the VRChat team explicitly asks creators not to upgrade their SDK yet (“DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR SDK YET”).
- Desktop HUD: a new HUD for desktop.
- Keyboard refresh: the in-game keyboard gets an update.
- News module: lets you watch the patch notes inside VRChat.
The announcement notes there is more in the full patch notes.
VRChat PC requirements
These are the requirements from the Steam store page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon R9 290 | Not specified |
| CPU | Intel i5-4590 or AMD FX 8350 | Not specified |
| RAM | 4 GB | Not specified |
| Storage | 1 GB | Not specified |
| OS | Windows 10/11, 64-bit | 64-bit processor and OS |
The minimum also asks for DirectX 11 and a broadband connection, and lists SteamVR support for playing in VR. Steam’s recommended column only says you need a 64-bit processor and operating system, with no specific parts.
Which GPUs clear the minimum?
On our scale, the GTX 970 from the minimum scores 8,600 points. Several very common cards land above it:
- Radeon RX 580: 8,900 points, clears the minimum. See what else the RX 580 runs.
- GeForce GTX 1060 6GB: 9,500 points, clears it too. It has its own page.
- RTX 3060, RTX 4060 and Arc B580: all clear the minimum with much higher scores.
The one to watch is the GeForce GTX 1650: at 7,950 points it falls below the minimum in our comparison.
Since Steam does not publish recommended requirements, we are not talking letter grades here: the minimum is the only firm line we have.
What about Steam Deck?
Valve tested it and rates it Verified. You can find the details on the VRChat Steam Deck page.
