2K’s Autumn Sale is live on Steam and runs through October 8, 2026. Borderlands 4 came out on September 11, 2025, holds an 81 on Metacritic and has 7,114 people playing it right now. Today it’s listed at $34.99 with a 50% discount. Check your rig before you grab the deal, because this is a demanding game: an SSD is mandatory and the recommended spec calls for 32 GB of RAM.
Borderlands 4 PC requirements
These are the requirements from the Steam store page, which lists Windows only:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | RTX 2070, RX 5700 XT or Arc A580 (8 GB VRAM) | RTX 3080, RX 6800 XT or Arc B580 |
| CPU | Core i7-9700 or Ryzen 7 2700X (8 cores) | Core i7-12700 or Ryzen 7 5800X |
| RAM | 16 GB | 32 GB |
| Storage | 100 GB on SSD | 100 GB on SSD |
| OS | Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit | Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit |
The minimum notes add three conditions: an 8-core processor, 8 GB of VRAM and SSD storage. The SSD is also listed as required at the recommended tier. There is no Mac or Linux version on Steam.
Which graphics cards can run it
We matched the requirements against the scores of the most common GPUs. Our grades are measured against the recommended requirement and assume 16 GB of RAM, which is less than the 32 GB that recommended spec asks for.
- Clear the recommended: the RTX 5080 (A), plus the RTX 5070 and RX 9070 XT (B). The RTX 4070 clears it too, though it’s tight, with a C.
- Clear the minimum, tight: the RTX 3070, with a C. It doesn’t reach the recommended, but it sits above the minimum with some headroom.
- Clear the minimum but struggle: the RTX 3060, RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 4060 and RX 7600, all graded D. They’ll launch the game, but on our scale they will struggle.
- Fall short of the minimum: the RTX 2060, RTX 3050 and RX 6600 XT grade D. The GTX 1650, GTX 1060 6GB, GTX 1660 Super and RX 580 grade F.
Watch out for the Intel Arc B580. 2K lists it in the recommended spec, but it scores 14,200 on our scale, below the 16,200 that sets the minimum. That’s why we grade it D and mark it as not clearing the minimum. If that’s your card, check the full game page before you buy.
If you’re coming from Borderlands 3, expect a big jump. Its recommended GPU score was 9,850, while Borderlands 4’s is 25,040.
What about Steam Deck?
Valve gives it the Verified badge. When we compare the Deck’s hardware against the published requirements, though, it falls below the minimum and grades F. The two measure different things: the badge is Valve’s rating, while our grade compares against what 2K asks for on PC. You can see the details on Borderlands 4 on Steam Deck.
Can your PC run Borderlands 4?
Here’s how your rig compares on Borderlands 4, Borderlands 3 and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, which has a recommended score of 24,750:
| Game | Rec. GPU score | Rec. RAM | Min. RAM | Your PC |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| | 25,040 | 32 GB | 16 GB | ? |
| | 9,850 | 16 GB | 6 GB | ? |
| | 24,750 | 16 GB | 8 GB | ? |
