Escape from Playtime, Mob Entertainment’s co-op horror spinoff of Poppy Playtime, launches in Steam Early Access tomorrow, October 21. You can play solo or with up to 8 players, with proximity voice chat, in an abandoned toy factory whose layout changes every run. Early Access starts with the full eight-character roster, one starter zone and a core enemy lineup. After the October 1 to 4 open beta, the studio announced a map-type item so that getting lost in the shifting levels is less punishing. For your PC, the minimum is easy to reach, but the recommended spec jumps a lot: it asks for an RTX 3070 and a Core i9.
Escape from Playtime PC requirements
These are the official requirements from the Steam page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | GeForce GTX 1650 or Radeon RX 470 | GeForce RTX 3070 or Radeon RX 6800 XT |
| CPU | Core i3-9100 or Ryzen 5 3500 | Core i9-11900K or Ryzen 9 5900X |
| RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | Not listed | Not listed |
| OS | Windows 10/11 64-bit | Windows 10/11 64-bit |
Both tiers require DirectX 12. The game is Windows only: there is no Mac or Linux version.
Which GPUs handle it
The good news is that every popular card we checked clears the minimum, from the GTX 1650 up to the RTX 5080. The difference is how they grade against the recommended:
- GTX 1650: it is the minimum card. It clears the minimum but grades F against the recommended: it will launch, with little headroom and low settings.
- RTX 4060 and RX 7600: both sit between minimum and recommended, grading C against the recommended. Playable, without much to spare.
- RTX 3070: it is the recommended card and grades B, so it meets the recommended.
These grades assume 16 GB of RAM and measure the GPU. Watch your processor too: the recommended spec lists a Core i9-11900K or Ryzen 9 5900X, a big step up from the i3-9100 in the minimum.
What about Steam Deck?
Valve has not verified it yet. Our spec-based estimate gives it an F and puts it below the minimum. That is an estimate, not a real test: once Valve rates it, you will see it on the game’s Steam Deck page.
