Euro Truck Simulator 2 hits 54,419 players: Halloween, Iceland and can your PC run it?

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is having a busy week on Steam. It went from 15,613 to 54,050 concurrent players, and at the time of writing it shows 54,419. The jump lines up with a run of announcements from SCS Software: the Return to Brackenreach Halloween event, the first gameplay from the Iceland DLC and three new DAF XG+ editions for update 1.62. On October 12 we told you what update 1.62 and the Coaches DLC would bring. Here is what is new since then, and whether your PC still keeps up.

What’s new this week

• Return to Brackenreach. This is the Halloween event, announced on October 15. SCS presented it in verse: the witches of Brackenreach ask you to haul pumpkin treats across their land, with six runs as the goal and three gifts along the way. After that, the deliveries spread past Brackenhelm to cities and towns.
• Iceland DLC. The first gameplay video came out on October 14. It drives from Seyðisfjörður to the Goðafoss waterfall. You can already add the DLC to your Steam wishlist. The announcements do not give a release date yet.
• DAF XG+ for 1.62. Three editions are coming: Emerald, Sapphire and 30 Years in Czechia. Each one has its own paint job, exclusive exterior accessories and a specially designed interior. The Czechia edition celebrates 30 years of DAF in the Czech Republic, with royal orange paint and anniversary logos.
• Poznań Game Arena. SCS will be there from October 23 to 25 in Hall 5, Booth 56, with Iceland and Coaches available to try.

It also runs on Mac and Linux with similar specs. On Linux, SCS asks for recent binary ATI or NVIDIA drivers, since MESA may not work reliably.

Which GPUs run it

Every GPU on our list clears the minimum, so the real question is how much headroom you have. Grades are measured against the recommended requirement:

• GTX 1650: clears the minimum with a D (Struggles). It runs, but high settings will be tough on it.
• GTX 1060 6GB and RX 580: C (Tight). They sit between the minimum and the recommended.
• GTX 1660 Super, RTX 3050 and Arc B580: B (Solid). They meet the recommended.
• RTX 3060 and RX 7600: A (Smooth). Plenty of headroom.
