Farming Simulator 25 Beans & Alpacas previews: can your PC run the game?

GIANTS Software keeps showing off Beans & Alpacas, the upcoming expansion for Farming Simulator 25. The October 15 preview covers the farmhouses and decorations of Catuaí, the new region. It follows the September 17 and September 24 previews on productions and coffee farming. The game has 17,323 concurrent players on Steam right now. If you are thinking about coming back for the expansion, the question is the usual one: can your PC handle it? On October 1 we went over the requirements after Free Content Update #7 and patch 1.24. Here is what is new in Catuaí first, then the hardware you need.

What Beans & Alpacas brings, according to the previews

• A new region: Catuaí, with a warm climate, its own growth calendar and new trees, bushes and fauna.
• Coffee and bananas: the new crops. Coffee skips the seeder: it has its own plantation system, and you set the boundary by painting it. It goes through five growth states, and on Catuaí you can place plantations at any time of year.
• New production chains: coffee can end up as coffee beverages, tiramisu or coffee yogurt. Alpaca fleece becomes textile and furniture products, and raw materials become paint for community tasks. There are also new constructions that ask you to deliver resources. And a dinosaur.
• Farmhouses and decorations: over 80 new objects and six new farmhouses with interiors you can step inside. The houses show wear as they age, and delivering paint makes them look new again.

We do not have a confirmed release date or price for the expansion yet.

Which graphics cards run it

The minimum bar is low: every card we checked clears it. The difference is how they grade against the recommended:

• GTX 1650: clears the minimum but sits far below the recommended (grade F), so expect it to struggle.
• GTX 1060 6GB and RX 580: clear the minimum with a D against the recommended. It runs, but expect it to struggle.
• GTX 1660 Super, RTX 2060, RTX 3050 and Arc B580: grade C, between the minimum and the recommended. If you have a GTX 1660 Super, check what else runs on that card.
• RTX 3060, RTX 4060 and RX 7600: meet the recommended (grade B). The RTX 3060 is the comfortable entry point.
• RTX 4070 and RX 9070 XT: grade A, well above the recommended.

Grades assume 16 GB of RAM and are measured against the recommended requirement. With 8 GB you clear the minimum but fall short of the 12 GB recommended.

What about Steam Deck or Mac?

Valve tested it and rates it Playable on Steam Deck. You will find more on the game’s Steam Deck page.

On Mac it asks for macOS 11.3 or newer: Apple M1 and 8 GB of RAM at minimum, Apple M1 Pro and 16 GB recommended. If you play on a Mac, see what else runs on your machine.
