FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE launches on Steam on October 22 at $49.99. That is good news for modest PCs: it is the first Final Fantasy in HD-2D, the style that blends pixel art with 3D environments, and a GTX 1650 already clears the minimum. According to CGMagazine’s Switch 2 review, the game adapts the first season of the story of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, a mobile game that has since shut down. There is also a free demo on Steam that covers the whole first chapter, and your save carries over to the full game. That way you can see how it runs on your machine before you pay.
Final Fantasy Resonance PC requirements
These are the official requirements from the Steam page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | RX 6400, Arc A580 or GTX 1650 | RX 5500 XT, Arc A580 or GTX 1650 |
| CPU | Ryzen 3 2300X or Core i3-8100 | Ryzen 5 2500X or Core i3-8100 |
| RAM | 8 GB | 8 GB |
| Storage | 15 GB | 15 GB |
| OS | Windows 11 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
The minimum targets 1080p at 30 fps on the “Low” preset. The recommended targets 1080p at 60 fps on “Highest”. Both call for DirectX 12. For now it is Windows only: Steam lists no Mac or Linux version.
Which GPUs run it
Every card we checked clears the minimum. Canirun grades are measured against the recommended requirement with 16 GB of RAM, even though the game asks for 8 GB at both tiers:
- GTX 1650 and RX 580: they clear the minimum and grade C (Tight). A note on the GTX 1650: Steam lists it on both lines, but our grade compares against the recommended score (9200) and the GTX 1650 scores 7950. That is why we rate it as tight.
- GTX 1060 6GB: meets the recommended and grades B (Solid).
- RTX 3050: grades A (Smooth), like other midrange cards on the list.
The strongest cards we checked reach S (Overkill). On the CPU side, the Core i3-8100 appears in both the minimum and the recommended. If your PC is older, our list of games for low-end PCs may also help.
What about the Steam Deck?
Valve has not verified it yet. Our spec-based estimate, which is not a real test, gives it an F: on paper, the Deck does not reach the minimum. Since the demo is free, it is the simplest way to find out for yourself. You can see the details on the game’s Steam Deck page.
