Final Fantasy Resonance launched today, October 22, on Steam for $49.99. It is the first HD-2D game in the series, the style that blends detailed pixel art with 3D graphics, and it is developed by Square Enix and LANCARSE. Yesterday, October 21, we told you a GTX 1650 clears the minimum. Today you can play it, and as we write this it has 18,963 concurrent players on Steam.
What the launch brings
According to Square Enix’s launch announcement on Steam, the story centers on the crystals and combat is an evolved take on the classic turn-based command system. CGMagazine’s review, written on the Nintendo Switch 2 version, adds that the game adapts the first season of the story of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, a mobile game that has since shut down. It also brings in the protagonists of all sixteen mainline games as aids for the new cast, as part of the series’ 40th anniversary.
The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the base game and the Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe Pack:
- Magitek Armor Key: turns your chocobo’s appearance into magitek armor.
- Archwitch’s Grimoire: unlocks a certain character’s Fel Meteor limit burst, exclusive to this pack.
- Starter items: Mastery Ring x1 (more MRP), Tent x5, Mist Potion x5, Mist Ether x5, Phoenix Down x5 and Remedy x3.
Square Enix also says it is investigating some known issues, such as the minimap or help display reappearing at certain points.
