Tales of Eternia Remastered launched yesterday, October 15, on Steam for $29.99, and for PC players the news is easy: almost any machine from the last several years runs it, and Valve rates it Verified on Steam Deck. On October 14 we went over its requirements and the confusing DirectX 12 note. Now that the game is in the store, the Steam listing is unchanged.
What the Remaster brings
TOSE developed it and Bandai Namco publishes it. CGMagazine’s review, based on the PS5 version, says it builds on the PSP release of the PlayStation classic and adds:
- A brand-new English localization and script.
- The return of skits that were left out of previous releases.
- Quality-of-life changes that, in the review’s words, make it more accessible and modern-feeling, despite its sometimes dated look.
Tales of Eternia Remastered PC requirements
Steam lists the same hardware for minimum and recommended. The only difference is the expected graphics quality:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | GTX 650 Ti (1 GB), Radeon HD 7770 (2 GB) or Arc A310 (4 GB) | GTX 650 Ti (1 GB), Radeon HD 7770 (2 GB) or Arc A310 (4 GB) |
| CPU | Core i3-8100 or Ryzen 3 3100 | Core i3-8100 or Ryzen 3 3100 |
| RAM | 4 GB | 4 GB |
| Storage | 8 GB | 8 GB |
| OS | Windows 11, 64-bit | Windows 11, 64-bit |
The minimum targets 1080p at 60 fps on “Low” and the recommended targets 1080p at 60 fps on “High”, with possible drops in graphics-intensive scenes. Both call for DirectX 12. The fine print on the recommended spec is still there: it says DirectX 12 needs Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) and a GPU with 4 GB of VRAM, which doesn’t line up with the 1 GB GTX 650 Ti on the list. The game is Windows only: there is no Mac or Linux version.
Which GPUs run it
Every popular GPU we check clears both the minimum and the recommended, and grades S (“Overkill”) measured against the recommended requirement. That includes older or entry-level cards like the GTX 1650, the RX 580 and the RTX 3050, as well as the Arc B580. If your card has less than 4 GB of VRAM, keep that DirectX 12 note in mind.
On Steam Deck, Valve tested it and rates it Verified. You’ll find more on the game’s Steam Deck page.
