Tales of Eternia Remastered launches tomorrow, October 15, on Steam, and it asks for very little. Bandai Namco and TOSE list the exact same hardware for minimum and recommended: a Core i3-8100 or Ryzen 3 3100, 4 GB of RAM and a GTX 650 Ti. The only difference is the graphics preset. The minimum targets 1080p/60fps on Low, and the recommended targets 1080p/60fps on High. If your PC is several years old, this Tales is for you.
Tales of Eternia Remastered PC requirements
These are the official requirements from the Steam page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | GTX 650 Ti (1 GB), Radeon HD 7770 (2 GB) or Arc A310 (4 GB) | GTX 650 Ti (1 GB), Radeon HD 7770 (2 GB) or Arc A310 (4 GB) |
| CPU | Core i3-8100 or Ryzen 3 3100 | Core i3-8100 or Ryzen 3 3100 |
| RAM | 4 GB | 4 GB |
| Storage | 8 GB | 8 GB |
| OS | Windows 11 64-bit, DirectX 12 | Windows 11 64-bit, DirectX 12 |
For both tiers, Bandai Namco warns that the framerate might drop in graphics-intensive scenes.
Watch the DirectX 12 fine print
The recommended notes add a line that doesn’t match the rest of the page. It says Windows 10 (Version 1809 or later) and a GPU with 4 GB of VRAM are required for the DirectX 12 API. But the OS listed above is Windows 11, and the GPU list includes 1 GB and 2 GB cards. The page doesn’t say which one wins. If your card has less than 4 GB, that’s the line to keep an eye on once the game is out.
As for what the remaster adds, the Steam page lists destination markers, the option to disable enemy encounters, a high-speed mode during auto-battle, and toggles to switch graphics and sound effects between the new and the original style. According to CGMagazine’s review of the PS5 version, it is based on the PSP release, brings a brand-new English localization and script, and restores the skits that were left out of previous releases.
Which GPUs run it
Every GPU on canirun’s list clears both the minimum and the recommended with room to spare. They all get an S, “Overkill”, measured against the recommended requirement. That includes older or entry-level cards like the GTX 1650, the RX 580 and the GTX 1060 6GB, plus the RTX 3050. The grades assume 16 GB of RAM, even though the game only asks for 4 GB.
Valve hasn’t verified it for Steam Deck yet. canirun’s spec-based estimate gives it an S, and you can see the details on the game’s Steam Deck page. For now the Steam page lists Windows only: there is no Mac or Linux version.
