Moonfrost PC requirements: out tomorrow in Early Access, needs Windows 11

Moonfrost is Oxalis Games’ mix of farming, building and RPG, set in a world wrecked by meteor storms. It launches tomorrow, October 12, in Steam Early Access. If your PC is modest, this is good news: it asks for 8 GB of RAM and a GPU with 3 GB of VRAM. The thing worth checking before you buy is the operating system, not the hardware. The store page lists Windows 11 as the minimum.

Moonfrost PC requirements

These are the requirements from the Steam page. Oxalis only published the minimum:

The listing doesn’t name a specific graphics card or processor. It only asks for 3 GB of video memory and a 2 GHz processor. The game uses pixel art, although the studio describes dynamic lighting, weather and wildlife systems. The install is a small 2 GB.

Which GPUs run it?

Every GPU on our list clears the minimum, from the oldest to the newest. That includes the GTX 1650, the RX 580 and the GTX 1060 6GB, and of course cards like the RTX 3060 or the Arc B580. Since there is no recommended spec, the minimum is the only official reference. If you’re on a budget machine, the GPU shouldn’t be what holds you back with this release. Windows 11 and the demo

Steam lists Windows 11 as the minimum OS. If you’re still on Windows 10, keep that in mind before you pay. Moonfrost has a free demo on its Steam page, so you can try it on your own machine first.

The store page lists Windows only. There is no Mac or Linux version.

What about Steam Deck?

Valve hasn’t verified it yet. Based on the specs, our estimate is a C. That is only an estimate built from the requirements, not a test on the device. Once Valve rates it, you’ll see it on the Moonfrost Steam Deck page.
