Risk of Rain 2: Hallowed Concepts is out, PC requirements and Steam Deck status

Hallowed Concepts, the fourth Risk of Rain 2 DLC, is out on Steam today, October 8. It arrives with a free base game update that adds new skills for six original survivors and an optional Karma system. Players are coming back: there are 22,490 concurrent players on Steam right now. For your PC the news is good, because the requirements are still very light: 4 GB of RAM and a GTX 580 at minimum.

What Hallowed Concepts adds

The DLC is paid content and includes:

• Two new survivors: Enforcer, unlocked by default, and Acolyte, which you unlock by playing.
• More enemies: 3 new enemies, 3 new bosses and a new elite type.
• Stages: 3 new standard stages and several new trial stages.
• Items: 14 Hexes, 11 Hallowed Items, 3 new standard items, 2 new item types, 6 new interactables and one Curio, The N’Tormat.
• Music: tracks by Stavros Markonis, the DLC3 composer, plus one by Nando Garza.

The free update is for everyone. Commando gets Sabotage, Huntress gets Laser Cyclone, Acrid gets Cloying Breath, Artificer gets Tectonic Blast, Engineer gets Laser Cutter and REX gets Proliferation. Each skill has its own unlock condition. The Karma system can make the final confrontation on the moon significantly more challenging. Halcyon Shrine was also rebalanced and is now much less likely to spawn on Stage 1, showing up in about 50% of runs.

If you don’t own the base game yet, it is $8.24 on Steam, 67% off, as part of the 2K Autumn Sale. The announcement says that sale ends October 8.

Which GPUs run it?

We checked every popular GPU on our list, and all of them clear both the minimum and the recommended. Every one grades S, “Overkill”, measured against the recommended requirement. That includes the more modest cards, such as the GTX 1650, the RX 580, the RTX 3050 and the Arc B580.

RAM isn’t a concern either: the game asks for 4 GB at both minimum and recommended.
