Early access opened on October 16 for anyone who digitally pre-ordered or pre-purchased the Standard Digital Edition or Vault Edition on Steam: sixteen missions about a full-scale invasion across the Korean Peninsula, with Private Park Hyun Jun and an outlaw John Price. DMZ early access starts October 20 and the full launch is October 23. Steam shows it: we tracked a jump from 19,118 to 76,064 concurrent players in the Call of Duty app, which covers Modern Warfare 4, Black Ops 7 and Warzone.
If you haven’t bought it yet and you’re unsure about your rig, here’s what it asks for.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 PC requirements
These are the Windows requirements listed on Call of Duty’s Steam page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | RX 470, GTX 970 / 1060 or Arc A580 | RX 6600 XT, RTX 3060 or Arc B580 |
| CPU | Ryzen 5 1400 or Core i5-6600 | Ryzen 5 1600X or Core i7-6700K |
| RAM | 8 GB | 12 GB |
| Storage | SSD with 161 GB available | SSD with 161 GB available |
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit (latest update) | Windows 11 64-bit (latest update) |
Both tiers require DirectX 12 and a broadband connection. The SSD isn’t optional: minimum and recommended both call for one, with 161 GB available at launch.
Which GPUs run it
An RTX 3060, one of the cards named on the store page, meets the recommended and grades B on canirun, same as the RTX 4060. Higher up, the RX 9070 XT grades A and the RTX 5080 reaches S. All of these grades are measured against the recommended requirement, with 16 GB of RAM.
Cards from a few generations back clear the minimum but sit below the recommended. The RTX 2060 grades C, while the GTX 1660 Super, GTX 1060 6GB and RX 580 grade D. The GTX 1650 also clears the minimum, but it grades F against the recommended, so expect it to struggle.
If you’re on that edge, settings help. Beenox, the studio leading the PC version with Infinity Ward, says the game automatically configures settings based on your hardware and offers 800+ customization options. It also supports upscaling and frame generation: AMD FSR Redstone, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, Intel XeSS 3 and Filmic SMAA T2X.
What about the Steam Deck?
Valve hasn’t verified it: Steam lists it as Unsupported. Our spec-based estimate gives it an F, and by those numbers the Deck doesn’t clear the minimum. The details are on the game’s Steam Deck page.
