Modern Warfare 4 is out on PC: requirements and which GPUs run it

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches today, October 22, on Steam for $69.99. On October 16 we told you early access was starting, and that week went well. SteamDB lists it as Steam’s top seller for the week of October 13 to 20, not counting free-to-play games. PCGamesN reports that Steam reviews from early access players are 90% positive, and some players call it the best Call of Duty campaign in years. The story opens with North Korea invading the Korean Peninsula. If you waited for launch to buy it, here is what your PC needs.

Modern Warfare 4 PC requirements

These are the requirements from the Steam page:

Three details on the Steam page:

• You need an SSD. Steam says the 115 GB has to be on an SSD at launch.
• Windows has to be up to date. Activision asks for the latest update and warns that trial, beta or Insider builds may not be supported.
• You need an internet connection. Both tiers list a broadband connection.

On October 1 we went over the official requirements, which also call for TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot.

Which graphics cards run it

We checked common graphics cards against our benchmarks. Grades are measured against the recommended requirement and assume 16 GB of RAM. Every card on this list clears the minimum:

• GTX 1060 6GB: clears the minimum and grades D (Struggles) against the recommended. It runs, but with little headroom.
• RTX 2060: lands between the minimum and the recommended, with a C (Tight).
• RTX 3060: meets the recommended, with a B (Solid).
• RTX 4070: sits well above the recommended, with an A (Smooth).

What about Steam Deck?

Valve has not verified it yet. Our spec-based estimate gives it an F and puts it below the minimum, but that is only a calculation from the specs, not a real test. When Valve posts its rating, you will see it on the game’s Steam Deck page. The Steam page does not list a Mac or Linux version either.
