Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches in full today, October 23. The Steam page for Call of Duty, the app that covers Modern Warfare 4, Black Ops 7 and Warzone, arrives with a change to its requirements: recommended RAM goes up from 12 GB to 16 GB. Minimum RAM stays at 8 GB, and the minimum and recommended GPUs are the same as before. If you play with 12 GB, you are still above the minimum, but you no longer meet the recommended spec.
On October 17 we told you the campaign was playable in early access and that DMZ would follow on October 20. Since then DMZ has opened its early access too, and today the full game joins it. Right now the app has 110,769 concurrent players.
Call of Duty PC requirements
These are the Windows requirements on the Steam page today:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | RX 470, GTX 970 / 1060 or Arc A580 | RX 6600 XT, RTX 3060 or Arc B580 |
| CPU | Ryzen 5 1400 or Core i5-6600 | Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i7-8700K |
| RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB (was 12 GB) |
| Storage | 115 GB on SSD | 115 GB on SSD |
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
The recommended spec also lists DirectX 12. There is no Mac or Linux version.
What the RAM change means for your PC
canirun grades assume 16 GB of RAM, which is now exactly what the recommended spec asks for. If your PC has 12 GB, you clear the memory minimum but fall below the recommended.
The recommended GPU did not change, so neither did the GPU grades. All of them are measured against the recommended requirement:
- RTX 3060: meets the recommended, grade B (Solid).
- RTX 4070: grade A (Smooth), with room to spare.
- RX 6600 XT: it is listed in the official recommended spec. On canirun it clears the minimum and grades C (Tight) against the recommended.
- GTX 1060 6GB: clears the minimum with a D (Struggles). The game runs, but expect it to struggle.
What about Steam Deck?
Valve has not verified Call of Duty for Steam Deck: it is listed as Unsupported. Our spec-based estimate puts the Deck below the minimum, at an F. The details are on the game’s Steam Deck page.
