QuestAway launches free on Steam: PC requirements and what GPU you need

QuestAway, the tiny idle RPG from ART X GAMES that lives in a small window next to your taskbar, has left beta and has been on Steam since Friday, October 23. It is free, Windows only, and has 8,429 concurrent players right now. The idea is simple: build a party of heroes, send them off to fight and get back to work, and loot is waiting when you come back. For your PC the news is good: it asks so little that every GPU on our list clears the recommended spec.

What the launch brings

The studio calls this version 1.0, and a few things are worth knowing before you jump in:

• Everyone starts from zero. Accounts, characters, Crystals and achievements reset at launch, so nobody is ahead.
• Your beta save is not lost. It is archived on your PC.
• A reward for testers. Everyone who played the beta gets the exclusive “Beta tester” title.
• The Colossus. Twelve times a day, all players take on a giant Colossus together.

Before launch, the team said it would post the details on how the in-game Market works, including “crystal prices” and how to move an item to your Steam inventory if you want to trade it on the Steam Community Market.

QuestAway PC requirements

These are the requirements from the Steam store page:

The minimum only asks for a DirectX 11 compatible GPU, without requiring a dedicated card. The recommended does ask for a dedicated GPU with 2 GB of VRAM.

Which GPUs run it

Every GPU we checked clears both the minimum and the recommended. The most modest card on the list, the GTX 1650, gets an A (Smooth) measured against the recommended requirement. The RX 580, the GTX 1060 6GB and everything above them get an S (Overkill). If your PC is a few years old, QuestAway sits comfortably alongside other low-end PC games.

There is no Mac or Linux version: Steam lists it for Windows only.

What about Steam Deck?

Valve has not rated it yet. On specs it clears the minimum, and our spec-based estimate gives it a B, but that is only an estimate until Valve reviews it. The details are on QuestAway’s Steam Deck page.
