Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is having a busy day on Steam. Its concurrent player count went from 9,052 to 29,278, and today, October 6, KONAMI announced a new Selection Pack, Arising of the Apocalypse. The game is free, came out on January 18, 2022, and on PC it is Windows only. If you are coming back after a break or trying it for the first time, check what it needs first. For a card game, its requirements are higher than many people expect, especially on storage.
What Arising of the Apocalypse brings
The pack is built around the “Power Patron” cards: gather three of them and “Vidolium the Unstable Power Patron of Unity” appears. It also adds a batch of “The Phantom Knights” support cards, such as “Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, Four Heavenly Dragons”. The “Invoked” archetype gets support too, where a single spellcaster calls forth various Fusion Monsters, and so does “Charmer”, whose spellcasters each specialize in a different element.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel PC requirements
These are the official requirements from the Steam page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 |
| CPU | Intel Core i5-9400F | Intel Core i5-11400F |
| RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 64 GB | 128 GB |
| OS | Windows 11 Home 64-bit, latest revision | Windows 11 Home 64-bit, latest revision |
The minimum targets a 1280 x 720 resolution with DirectX 11. The recommended targets 1920 x 1080 with DirectX 12. Both ask for a broadband connection. The standout number is storage: 64 GB minimum and 128 GB recommended, so check your free space before you start the download.
Which GPUs run it
Every GPU we checked clears the minimum. The difference is how each one grades against the recommended requirement:
- Meets recommended: the RTX 3060, RTX 4060, RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070 grade B. The RTX 4070, RTX 5070 and Radeon RX 9070 XT grade A.
- Between minimum and recommended: the RTX 2060, Radeon RX 7600, RX 6600 XT and Intel Arc B580 grade C, which canirun labels Tight: they clear the minimum but fall short of the recommended.
- Near the minimum: the GTX 1650 is the exact minimum GPU, so it runs the game, but it grades F against the recommended and will struggle. The GTX 1060 6GB, GTX 1660 Super, RTX 3050 and Radeon RX 580 grade D: they clear the minimum with little room to spare.
These grades assume 16 GB of RAM, which is exactly what the recommended spec asks for.
What about Steam Deck?
Valve rates it Verified on Steam Deck. There is more on the game’s Steam Deck page.
