STALZONE, EXBO’s free-to-play PvPvE extraction shooter set in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, came back from maintenance on September 30 with a big patch. It brings changes to the economy, rewards and progression, a new quest called Shock wave, balance changes and the announcement of the Ticketopia event. Interest in the game on canirun has spiked over the last few days, and 8,866 people are playing it on Steam right now. If you’re thinking about heading into the Zone, the good news is that it asks for very little.

The patch follows EXBO’s September 28 breakdown of its open-world economy rework. That rework covers rewards from events, caches, faction containers, protoartifacts and gear repairs. Ticketopia runs from October 14 to 28 with 16 challenges: 8 in PvE and 8 in the Coliseum, which you can complete in any combination.

STALZONE PC requirements

These are the requirements listed on Steam:

CPUCore i3-6100 or Ryzen 3 1200Core i5-7400 or Ryzen 5 1600
RAM4 GB8 GB
Storage50 GB (SSD recommended)50 GB (SSD recommended)
OSWindows 10 or Windows 11 64-bitWindows 10 or Windows 11 64-bit

Both tiers also call for a broadband internet connection. On Steam the game is Windows only, with no Mac or Linux version.

Which graphics cards run it

Every popular card we checked clears the minimum. The real question is how much headroom you have against the recommended spec:

  • GTX 1650: clears the minimum and grades C (Tight) against the recommended. It runs, but without much to spare.
  • RX 580: it’s named in the official recommended spec, but on canirun it lands below that mark and also grades C. It clears the minimum comfortably.
  • GTX 1060 6GB: meets the recommended spec with a B (Solid).
  • RTX 3050: grades A (Smooth). On our list, everything from there up grades A or S.

Memory needs are light too: 4 GB of RAM at minimum and 8 GB recommended. canirun grades assume 16 GB, so at that amount you’re well covered. An SSD isn’t mandatory, but both tiers recommend one.

What about Steam Deck?

Valve rates it Playable. Our comparison is more cautious: going by its GPU score, the Deck falls short of the listed minimum and grades D against the recommended. Valve says it works, but don’t expect much headroom. The details are on STALZONE on Steam Deck.
