NVIDIA RTX Spark: what it is, when it ships and what it promises for PC gaming

NVIDIA and Microsoft unveiled RTX Spark, a chip pairing a Blackwell RTX GPU with a Grace CPU for Windows laptops and compact desktops. Preorders are open, laptops ship October 16 and desktops in November. Here is what it promises for games.

NVIDIA and Microsoft unveiled RTX Spark on October 7. It is a chip that pairs a Blackwell RTX GPU with an NVIDIA Grace CPU for Windows laptops and compact desktops. Laptop preorders are already open and the laptops arrive October 16. Compact desktops go on sale in November. Most of the announcement is about local AI, but NVIDIA also made a promise for gamers: AAA games at 1440p over 100 fps with DLSS 5.

What RTX Spark is

According to NVIDIA’s blog, this is what the chip brings:

  • GPU: Blackwell RTX with up to 6,144 cores.
  • CPU: NVIDIA Grace with up to 20 cores, connected to the GPU at 600 GB/s.
  • Memory: up to 128GB of unified memory.
  • AI: one petaflop of FP4 performance.
  • Video and creation: 5th-generation Tensor Cores with NVFP4 support, hardware-accelerated AV1, 4:2:2 video encode and decode, DLSS and RTX ray tracing.

Systems are coming from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, MSI and Gigabyte, ranging from slim laptops to compact desktops. Microsoft, for example, built its Surface Laptop Ultra around RTX Spark. RTX Spark also runs the full CUDA platform, the same software stack as the rest of NVIDIA’s hardware.

What it promises for gaming

NVIDIA’s line is simple: with RTX Spark you can run AAA games at 1440p over 100 frames per second with DLSS 5, Reflex and G-SYNC. Read it carefully, though. The announcement does not say which games or which graphics settings were used. The figure also comes with DLSS 5 turned on, so it is not native rendering.

The announcement has no prices either. NVIDIA presents RTX Spark inside laptops and compact desktops, and the text does not mention a standalone graphics card for your tower.

At the same event, NVIDIA previewed DGX Station for Windows, with 748GB of coherent memory and up to 20 petaFLOPS of FP4 AI compute. That machine is for enterprises and AI labs, not for gaming.

What it means if you are building or upgrading

If you are looking at a new laptop for both gaming and AI work, RTX Spark is one more option to consider from October 16. Still, it makes sense to wait for prices and tests in specific games before you decide.

If you play on a desktop and want a better GPU, this announcement does not change the picture yet. On April 1 we published our best GPU for gaming in 2026 buying guide, which covers everything from the budget RX 7600 to the enthusiast RTX 4070 Ti Super. If memory is your question, how much RAM you need for gaming helps you decide whether 16 or 32GB makes sense for you.

And if you want to know how far your current card goes, see which games canirun grades for it: RTX 4060, RTX 5070 or RTX 5080.
