NVIDIA App 11.0.9.585 lists DLSS Override for PUBG, The Witcher 3 and Dragon's Dogma 2

NVIDIA released version 11.0.9.585 of its app with a short but useful update: its notes list 19 games with DLSS Override support, including PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Dragon’s Dogma 2. Six games also get Optimal Settings profiles. If you own a GeForce RTX card, the app lets you pick the newer DLSS models for those games. On November 5 we covered the 621.14 driver, which brought DLSS 5 to Hogwarts Legacy. This is a separate update to the app, not to the driver.

The games on the DLSS Override list

Here is the 11.0.9.585 list as NVIDIA publishes it: Honeycomb: The World Beyond, WARDOGS, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, Aniimo, 007 First Light, Active Matter, Enlisted, Dragon’s Dogma 2, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, AION 2, Halloween: The Game, HOT WHEELS Infinite Rush, SILENT HILL: Townfall, CONTROL Resonant, ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE, DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Complete Edition Remastered, STAR WARS: Galactic Racer, Gears of War: E-Day and Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival.

Note that not all of them are new. The same page already listed 007 First Light with DLSS Override in version 11.0.9, Active Matter in 11.0.8 and AION 2 in 11.0.6.

Optimal Settings profiles, which the app applies for you, arrive for six games: AION 2, Aniimo, CONTROL Resonant, EA SPORTS FC 27, Gears of War: E-Day and STAR WARS: Galactic Racer. The rest of the release is stability and security fixes.

What DLSS Override does and where to find it

DLSS Override lets you choose which DLSS model a game uses. You will find it in the NVIDIA App under Graphics > Program Settings > Driver Settings > DLSS Override - Model Presets. Earlier release notes on the same page explain what is in there:

• Super Resolution: the “Recommended” mode uses the DLSS 4.5 models, with Model M for DLSS Performance, Model L for 4K DLSS Ultra Performance and Preset K for the remaining modes.
• Ray Reconstruction: since version 11.0.9, the same “Recommended” mode turns on DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction on GeForce RTX GPUs.
• Frame generation: version 11.0.9.565 added a Performance Mode in beta that generates more frames, especially at higher multipliers. You turn it on by setting Frame Generation to “Model C”.

What it means if you are buying or upgrading a GPU

Not every feature reaches every card. According to NVIDIA, DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction work on GeForce RTX GPUs. DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and the 5X and 6X modes are limited to the RTX 50 Series, and the Frame Generation model update covers the RTX 50 and RTX 40 Series. The notes do not say which GPUs the beta Performance Mode supports.

If you are choosing a card, that matters, because recent app releases keep adding games to this list.
