Find The Needle is out: PC requirements and which GPUs run it
Find The Needle launched today in Early Access on Steam. Here are its PC requirements, which GPUs clear the minimum and recommended specs, why integrated graphics won't work, and what to expect on Steam Deck.
In this guide 5
Find The Needle came out today, November 6, in Early Access on Steam. It’s the Needless Games title where you get a shovel, a haystack with about six million strands, and a needle hidden somewhere inside. You start by digging by hand and selling the hay. Then you spend the money on belts and machines until you don’t have to dig anymore. It’s already a Steam top seller with 4,476 players online right now, and it costs $12.74 with a 15% discount. The good news for your PC is that it’s light on the graphics card. Two details are still worth checking before you buy.
Find The Needle PC requirements
These are the official requirements from the Steam page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | GTX 1050 Ti or RX 570 (4 GB VRAM, Vulkan 1.3 support) | GTX 1660 Super or RTX 2060 (6 GB VRAM) |
| CPU | Intel i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600 (4 cores / 8 threads) | Ryzen 5 5600 or Intel i5-12400 (6+ cores) |
| RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 3 GB | 3 GB |
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
Both tiers list DirectX 12. For now the game is Windows only, with no Mac or Linux version.
The two details that matter
- Integrated graphics: the studio says they aren’t supported and the game may crash. You need a dedicated GPU.
- CPU in long runs: according to the studio, very large factories are CPU heavy, and a faster processor keeps the frame rate up late in the game. If your GPU has headroom but your CPU is older, the processor is what you’ll feel most.
Today’s V12 patch also fixes a crash tied to power poles.
Which GPUs run it
Every GPU we checked clears the minimum. The difference is how each one grades against the recommended requirement:
- GTX 1650 and RX 580: clear the minimum but grade D (Struggles) against the recommended. The game runs, with little headroom. See what else the GTX 1650 handles.
- GTX 1060 6GB: C (Tight) against the recommended.
- GTX 1660 Super, RTX 2060, RTX 3050, RX 7600 and Arc B580: meet the recommended and grade B (Solid). The GTX 1660 Super is exactly the card the recommended spec asks for.
- RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 4060: grade A (Smooth) against the recommended, with plenty to spare for this game. Browse more games for the RTX 4060.
Grades assume 16 GB of RAM.
What about Steam Deck?
Valve hasn’t verified it yet. Our estimate, based only on specs, gives it an F and puts it below the minimum. That’s a spec-based estimate, not a test on the device. Follow the details on the game’s Steam Deck page.
Can your PC run Find The Needle?
Here’s how your rig grades against the game’s requirements:
| Game | Rec. GPU score | Rec. RAM | Min. RAM | Your PC |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| | 12,350 | 16 GB | 8 GB | ? |
