CD Projekt Red released patch 5.01 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered today, October 8. It’s out now on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net and Xbox Play Anywhere), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. On PC, the part that matters lives in the graphics menu. Dynamic Resolution Scaling is now off by default, and the visual artifacts it could cause are fixed. The GTAO setting no longer resets, and graphics presets stop applying DLSS or XeSS on cards that don’t support them. On October 3 we told you that hotfix 5.00c reverted the change that hurt performance with HairWorks. This patch keeps polishing the PC version.
What patch 5.01 fixes on your PC
The changes that affect your PC are split across two parts of the official notes. The PC-specific section is all about graphics settings:
- Dynamic Resolution Scaling: now off by default, and it no longer displays the wrong setting after you change the Anti-Aliasing mode.
- GTAO: your chosen quality no longer resets after restarting the game.
- DLSS and XeSS: switching graphics presets could apply them on GPUs that don’t support them. CD Projekt also fixed cases where you could enable a graphics setting your GPU doesn’t support.
- Wrong GPU: the game could sometimes select the wrong GPU. That is now fixed.
The general section, which applies to every platform, has more changes you’ll also notice on PC:
- Dynamic Resolution artifacts: it no longer causes visual artifacts in certain configurations.
- Image: visual adjustments to Bloom, tone mapping, character lighting, Ray Tracing and Path Tracing.
- Saves: fixed an issue that could affect save file data, with measures for saves that were already affected.
On the gameplay side, dodging no longer has a delayed response. Stamina no longer fully drains when you sprint and dodge at the same time, and the Exploding Shield skill now reflects damage.
What you need to do
Just update the game in your PC store. The notes don’t list other steps, but they flag two things you’ll run into:
- Consent screen: because of backend issues, the policy consent screen appears again, and you need to confirm your preferences once more.
- Duplicate rewards: the chest in Vizima now shows My Rewards and Twitch/Bilibili Drops even if you opened it before. Some items may be duplicated.
Since Dynamic Resolution Scaling is now off by default, you’ll find it in the graphics menu if you used it.
Requirements: unchanged
The patch notes don’t mention any change to the system requirements, so they stay as listed on Steam:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | GTX 1660, RX 5500 XT 8GB or Arc A580 (6 GB VRAM) | RTX 2060 Super, RX 6600 XT or Arc B580 (8 GB VRAM) |

| RAM | 12 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 60 GB on SSD | 60 GB on SSD |
| OS | 64-bit Windows 11 | 64-bit Windows 11 |
In canirun’s data, the GTX 1660 Super, RTX 3050 and RTX 2060 clear the minimum and grade C (Tight) against the recommended. The RTX 3060, RTX 4060 and RX 6600 XT meet the recommended with a B. The GTX 1060 6GB, GTX 1650 and RX 580 fall below the minimum. On Steam Deck, Valve rates it Verified: see the details.
