Valor Mortis first update: crash fixes, driver warning and a stutter fix for demo players
Valor Mortis' first patch fixes some of its most common crashes and warns you when your GPU drivers are outdated. If you played the demo or the playtest and see stutter, the studio recommends deleting one file. Here are the steps, the requirements and which GPUs run it.

On October 16, One More Level, the studio behind Ghostrunner, released the first update for Valor Mortis. It fixes some of the most common crashes and adds a warning when your GPU drivers are out of date. The announcement also includes a specific recommendation for stutter if you played the demo or the playtest. On October 13 we told you that the minimum requirement appeared to have dropped right before launch. Now the question is how the game actually runs once it is installed.
What is happening
The studio says it has been working to improve the game since launch earlier this week. It calls this patch a first round of bug fixes and optimization and says more is coming. Here is what changes:
- Crashes: some of the most common crashes the team saw across platforms are fixed.
- Driver warning: an automated pop-up now appears if you are using outdated graphics drivers. According to the studio, this is one of the areas where players are seeing the biggest performance and stability improvements.
- Less error logging: error logging was turned down, since it could have a minor performance impact.
What to do if you have stutter or crashes
These are the steps the studio itself gives:
- Update your GPU drivers to the latest version.
- If you played the playtest or the demo and see stutter or significant performance drops, delete the settings file at
AppData\Local\ValorMortis\Saved\Config\Windows\GameUserSettings.ini. - If the game crashes, submit the crash report with any additional info you can, so the team can keep chasing the crashes down.
Valor Mortis PC requirements
These are the requirements from the Steam page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | RX 5600 XT or GTX 1660 Ti | RX 6800 or RTX 3070 |
| CPU | Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i5-10600K | Ryzen 7 5800X or Core i5-13400 |
| RAM | 16 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 60 GB on SSD | 60 GB on SSD |
| OS | Windows 10/11, DirectX 12 | Windows 10/11, DirectX 12 |
The minimum targets 30 fps at 1080p on Low and the recommended targets 60 fps at 1440p on Medium. Both targets assume upscaling, and an SSD is required.
Which GPUs run it on canirun
One note before the grades: canirun measures them against a higher recommended reference than the Steam page lists, at the level of an RTX 4070 or an RX 7900 GRE. That is why a card Steam lists under recommended can grade lower here.
- RTX 2060, RTX 3060, RX 6600 XT and Arc B580: they clear the minimum but grade D (Struggles) against the recommended. They run the game with little headroom.
- RTX 3070: it clears the minimum and grades C (Tight) against our recommended reference, even though Steam lists it as recommended.
- RTX 4070, RTX 5070 and RX 9070 XT: they meet the recommended with a B.
- GTX 1660 Super and RTX 3050: they fall below the minimum.
Grades assume 16 GB of RAM.
On Steam Deck, Valve has not verified the game yet. Our spec-based estimate gives it an F and puts it below the minimum. You can see the details on the game’s Steam Deck page.
Can your PC run Valor Mortis?
Here is how your PC grades against Valor Mortis and two other games with similar GPU demands:
| Game | Rec. GPU score | Rec. RAM | Min. RAM | Your PC |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| | 26,500 | 16 GB | 16 GB | ? |
| | 26,900 | 32 GB | 16 GB | ? |
| | 24,750 | 16 GB | 8 GB | ? |
If your grade comes out tight, the full game page shows which upgrade gets you the most.
