STAR WARS: Galactic Racer hotfix: DLSS stability fixes and a newer minimum driver
STAR WARS: Galactic Racer's October 8 hotfix brings stability fixes to its DLSS options and raises the minimum graphics driver, now checked at boot. Here is what to do and which GPUs clear the requirements.
In this guide 4
On October 8, two days after launch, Fuse Games released a hotfix for STAR WARS: Galactic Racer on PC. It brings two changes that matter to you directly: stability fixes for the DLSS options and a higher minimum graphics driver version, which the game now checks at boot. If the game asks you to update your drivers, do it, and be patient on the next launch: it will take longer while the shader cache rebuilds.
On October 6 we covered which GPUs run it and how it does on Linux. The hardware requirements have not changed, and what is new is this patch.
What the hotfix changes
The official notes are short and mention only two things:
- Graphics drivers: the studio raised the minimum graphics driver requirement, and the game checks it every time it boots. The notes do not say which version is required.
- DLSS: there are stability fixes for the DLSS options. The notes do not say which problems were fixed.
The notes do not mention changes to the hardware requirements or to other graphics settings.
What to do
These steps come from the same notes:
- Download the hotfix through Steam.
- If the game asks you to update your graphics drivers at boot, update them.
- The first boot after updating your drivers will take longer while the game rebuilds its shader cache. That is expected and does not mean something is broken.
- If you still have issues after the hotfix, or you run into other ones, Fuse asks you to contact its Customer Support Centre. The link is in the official notes.
STAR WARS: Galactic Racer PC requirements
The hotfix does not change these requirements from the Steam page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | RTX 2060, Arc A580 or RX 5600 XT 6GB | RTX 3060 Ti, Arc B580 or RX 6700 XT |
| CPU | Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600 | Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 7 3700X |
| RAM | 12 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 50 GB on SSD | 50 GB on SSD |
| OS | Windows 10 | Not listed |
An RTX 2060 clears the minimum but grades D against the recommended: it runs, but it will struggle. The RTX 3060, RTX 4060 and RX 7600 also clear the minimum and grade C (tight) against the recommended. The RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 4070 meet the recommended with a B, and the RTX 5070 and RX 9070 XT reach an A. The GTX 1660 Super and RTX 3050 fall short of the minimum. Both tiers require an SSD.
