Thank You Bus Driver, the new game from Double Fine Productions, launches today, October 14, on Steam. It’s a chaotic driving comedy where you play a town’s bus driver: you enforce rules that change every day, slap the passengers who break them and try to reach the next stop before time runs out. The studio announced a $4.99 price, and according to PC Gamer it’s Double Fine’s first game since it stopped being part of Xbox. For your PC the news is good: it asks for very little, with 8 GB of RAM and 1 GB of space at both minimum and recommended.

Thank You Bus Driver PC requirements

These are the official requirements from the Steam page:

CPUCore i3-3225 or Phenom II X6 1100TCore i7-7700K or Ryzen 5 1600
RAM8 GB8 GB

The minimum calls for DirectX 11 and the recommended for DirectX 12. It’s Windows only: there’s no Mac or Linux version on Steam.

Which graphics cards run it

Every GPU on our list clears the minimum. Here’s how they grade against the recommended (grades assume 16 GB of RAM):

  • GTX 1650 and RX 580: clear the minimum and grade C (Tight). The RX 580 is named in Steam’s recommended specs, but in our benchmarks it scores below the GTX 1060 6GB, which is why it misses the B.
  • GTX 1060 6GB: meets the recommended, with a B (Solid).
  • RTX 3050: A (Smooth), with plenty of headroom for a game like this.

From the RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 4060 up, everything grades S (Overkill). If your rig is modest, this one belongs on our list of low-end PC games.

What about Steam Deck?

Double Fine announced on October 8 that Thank You Bus Driver is officially Steam Deck Verified.
