Pearl Abyss released Crimson Desert Enhanced hotfix 2.04.06 on November 4, and it is available now on Steam (PC and Mac) and the Epic Games Store. The part that matters most on PC: it fixes the game crashing in Pailune when the Cinematic option was enabled on driver version 26.10.1, and it improves framerate drops in certain areas, though the studio says it is not done with that problem yet. On October 30 we told you that patch 2.04.00 split upscaling from frame generation and fixed frame drops on the Ethereal Pathway; this hotfix goes back to stability and smoothness.

What is happening

The official 2.04.06 notes include several fixes that affect how the game runs on your PC:

  • Pailune crash: the game crashed in that area if you used the Cinematic option with driver 26.10.1. It is now fixed.
  • Framerate drops: Pearl Abyss says it improved drops in certain areas and will keep working on the ones that happen in certain situations and during certain content.
  • Free Construction: fixes the screen staying black when entering the mode in certain situations, and an occasional crash when approaching a house built in that mode.
  • Diving crash as Damiane: fixes an occasional crash when diving as Damiane with the language set to Latin American Spanish.
  • Return to title screen: no longer happens when gifting multiple items to an NPC.

The rest of the patch covers pioneering missions, ships, sound and items. For example, the Lumen Sword can no longer be destroyed in certain situations, and if yours already was, it can now be restored.

What to do

Update the game: the patch is available now on Steam (PC and Mac) and the Epic Games Store, and it comes to the Mac App Store at a later time. That takes care of the Pailune crash with the Cinematic option on driver 26.10.1.

There is no complete fix for the framerate drops yet. Pearl Abyss describes an improvement in certain areas, not a full solution, and the notes give no settings or extra steps to work around them.

Crimson Desert PC requirements

The hotfix does not mention any change to the requirements. These are the Windows requirements from the Steam page:

On Steam Deck, Valve has not verified it; our spec-based estimate gives it an F, below the minimum.
