On November 3, Lords of Illusion released version 1.1.4 of EXD - Extra Dimensional, its VR adventure that launched on April 16, 2026. This is the update that matters most if your PC is on the edge: it adds two DLSS modes with DLSS 4.5 support, and finally brings FSR2 upscaling to AMD cards. That is good news for a game whose minimum is an RTX 2080 Ti or an RX 5700 XT. A day later, hotfix 1.1.5 retuned foveated rendering and added missing controller bindings.
What 1.1.4 brings for performance
- Classic and Advanced DLSS. Classic prioritizes performance, including on older graphics cards, and remains the default for new profiles. Advanced uses the newer models, DLSS 4 and 4.5.
- FSR2 for AMD. It is the first upscaling option for Radeon cards in EXD. The studio’s beta testers report gains of up to 20 FPS under ideal conditions. The studio says it hopes to add newer FSR models in the future.
- Foveated rendering for Advanced DLSS. You pick Off, Light or High in the menu. It reduces reconstruction detail at the periphery while preserving the center of the image. In 1.1.5, Light was rebalanced to cut peripheral detail more noticeably while staying gentler than High. High is unchanged.
- Headsets and controls. OpenXR support improved, and Virtual Desktop compatibility now includes VDXR mode. Steam Frame owners get direct controller support, with improved mapping of the D-pad on the left controller. Version 1.1.5 added missing Valve Index controller bindings for OpenXR.
What to turn on
- Recent NVIDIA card: the studio recommends enabling Advanced mode in the graphics settings. Switching DLSS models triggers an automatic restart.
- Older NVIDIA card: Classic is the mode built to prioritize performance.
- AMD card: turn on FSR2 in the graphics settings.
- Using Advanced DLSS: you can set foveated rendering to Light or High to trim detail at the periphery.
