Crimson Desert 2.04.00 lets you pair DLSS upscaling with FSR Frame Generation
Crimson Desert Enhanced patch 2.04.00 arrived with the Charting the Unknown DLC: it splits upscaling from frame generation, fixes frame drops on the Ethereal Pathway and excessive camera shake. PC requirements and which GPUs clear them.

Crimson Desert Enhanced got patch 2.04.00 on October 29 at 22:00 (UTC), alongside the Charting the Unknown DLC. Beyond all the new content, it brings two changes you will notice on PC: you can now pick upscaling and frame generation separately, for example DLSS for upscaling and FSR Frame Generation for frames, and it fixes the frame drops that showed up when you stayed too long on the Ethereal Pathway. On Steam, both PC and Mac, the patch is available now.
What changes for performance
In the patch notes, Pearl Abyss confirms these changes:
- Upscaling and frame generation, separately: you no longer have to use the same technology for both. The notes give the example of combining DLSS upscaling with FSR Frame Generation.
- Ethereal Pathway frame drops: fixed the issue where frame rate dropped if you stayed in that area too long.
- Camera: it also fixes excessive camera shake in certain situations.
What to do
- Update before you play. Pearl Abyss asks players to always install the latest version before starting, so the base game and the DLC work as intended.
- Check the graphics menu: that is where you now pick upscaling and frame generation separately.
- If you play on Mac through Steam, this patch requires a one-time download of the full game package because of technical adjustments to the Mac build. On the Mac App Store the patch arrives at a later time.
- Watch your saves: save files created with the DLC installed cannot be loaded or used for cross-save in a game version without the DLC.
For issues still open, Pearl Abyss keeps a known issues list on its official site.
Crimson Desert PC requirements
The notes do not mention any change to the requirements. These are the Windows ones from the Steam page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | RX 5500 XT or GTX 1060 | RX 6700 XT or RTX 2080 |
| CPU | Ryzen 5 2600X or i5-8500 | Ryzen 5 5600 or i5-11600K |
| RAM | 16 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 180 GB on SSD | 180 GB on SSD |
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 10 64-bit |
The GTX 1060 6GB clears the minimum but grades D against the recommended: it runs, though it will struggle. The RTX 3060 and the RX 7600 also clear the minimum and grade C against the recommended, a tight fit. The RTX 4060 meets the recommended with a B, and the RTX 4070 and RX 9070 XT reach A. The GTX 1650 and RX 580 fall short of the minimum.
On Steam Deck, Valve has not verified it. Our spec-based estimate puts it at F; the details are on Crimson Desert on Steam Deck.
