The Cat in the Hat: Rainy Day Mayhem, Outright Games’ party game based on the Dr. Seuss classic, launches on Steam today, October 30. Casual Brothers developed it as a family game: up to 4 players, 18 minigames and a Find the Cat mode where you search for the Cat across 14 rooms of the house. The good news for PC players is that it asks for little, so a midrange graphics card from a few years back is enough.

These are the requirements from the Steam store page:

One thing to watch is memory. The listing says “8 MB” for both minimum and recommended. That figure makes no sense for a modern game and is almost certainly a typo, but Outright Games has not published a different number. Until it is corrected, there is no reliable official RAM figure. For that reason, canirun’s grades assume 16 GB.
The minimum uses DirectX 11 and the recommended uses DirectX 12. The game is Windows only, with no Mac or Linux version.
Which graphics cards run it
Nearly every popular card we checked clears the recommended spec. Grades are measured against the recommended requirement:
- GTX 1650 and RX 580: clear the minimum and grade C (Tight). The game runs, but with little headroom.
- GTX 1060 6GB: meets the recommended spec with a B (Solid).
- GTX 1660 Super, RTX 3060, RX 7600 and Arc B580: grade A (Smooth), well above what the game asks for.
- RTX 4060 and up: grade S (Overkill).
If you have any of these cards, the game will run. The only real question mark is RAM, because of the typo on the listing.
What about Steam Deck?
Valve has not rated it yet. Our estimate, which is based only on specs and is not a real test, gives it an F and puts it below the minimum. Once Valve publishes its rating, you will see it on the game’s Steam Deck page.
