Lightyear Frontier leaves Early Access tomorrow, November 4, with its 1.0 release. According to FRAME BREAK, it arrives in the evening for European players and early in the morning for US players. If you already own it, your copy updates for free and your saves stay put. If not, it costs $29.99, €29.99 or £23.49. On PC, the minimum is a GTX 1050 or RX 460, and Valve rates it Verified on Steam Deck.
What 1.0 brings
The studio previewed much of the content on Steam:
- Two new areas: the Sandswept Highlands, a desert of mesas and ruins built for huge endgame farms, and the Hollow Marsh, a foggy swamp tucked among its clifftops.
- An ending to the main story, with new main missions and Milestones 13 and 14.
- Experience presets for new saves: Creative, Relaxed, Balanced and Challenging, depending on whether you want to build stress-free or chase a challenge.
- Lola’s retrieval service, which you can pay to recover Trailers and item caches that ended up out of reach.
- Planning Mode, which lets you place holograms in Build Mode without spending resources.
It is still co-op: you can play with up to three friends. FRAME BREAK suggests starting a new save to get the most out of the balance and progression changes, though you don’t have to.

Which graphics card you need
Every popular GPU we checked clears the minimum, so the game starts even on older machines. The grade shifts when measured against the recommended requirement:
- GTX 1650: clears the minimum but grades D (Struggles). The GTX 1060 6GB and RX 580 land in the same spot. Plan on low settings.
- GTX 1660 Super: grades C (Tight), between minimum and recommended, like the RTX 3050.
- RTX 2060: meets the recommended with a B (Solid), alongside the RTX 3060, RX 7600 and Arc B580.
- RTX 3070: moves up to A (Smooth).
For memory, the minimum asks for 12 GB and the recommended 16 GB. Our grades assume 16 GB of RAM.
What about Steam Deck?
Valve tested it and rated it Verified, so it plays well on the handheld. You can find more on the Lightyear Frontier Steam Deck page.
