GRAVHOUNDS is out now in Early Access on Steam as of today, November 2, and it launches with 25% off for its first two weeks. It is a co-op action builder from Octopus Panic that you can play solo or with up to three friends online, and it has 825 concurrent players on Steam right now. Yesterday, November 1, we covered the requirements and which GPUs run it. Now that the game is on sale the requirements have not changed, so the real question is different: whether it is worth jumping in at the discount with the PC you have.

What’s in Early Access

You play a genetically engineered space dog stranded on the far side of the galaxy, surrounded by hostile aliens. Your corporate overlords still expect you to show up for work. You drop onto hostile planets, mine resources, build defenses and hold off alien swarms before extracting with the loot. It combines third-person shooting, physics-driven chaos, base building and roguelite progression.

  • 7 solar systems and 25 planets to explore in this first version.
  • Online co-op for 1 to 4 players, and you can also play solo.
  • 25% off on Steam for the first two weeks.

Octopus Panic says Early Access is just the beginning and that it wants to keep building the game with player feedback. If you buy in now, you are buying a game that is still in development.

GRAVHOUNDS PC requirements

These are the requirements from the Steam store page:

MinimumRecommended
GPUGeForce GTX 1660 or Radeon RX 590GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 5600X
CPUCore i5-7600K or Ryzen 5 1600Core i5-10600KF or Ryzen 5 3600X
RAM8 GB16 GB
Storage10 GB10 GB
OSWindows 10 64-bitWindows 11 64-bit

Both tiers require DirectX 12 and a broadband connection. The game is Windows only: Steam does not list it for Mac or Linux.

Which GPUs run it

The good news is that it is not demanding. The RTX 2060, RTX 3060, RTX 4060, Radeon RX 6600 XT and RX 7600 meet the recommended spec and grade B (Solid), measured against the recommended requirement. If you have an RTX 3060 or something in that range, you are in good shape.

One step down, the GTX 1660 Super, the RTX 3050 and the Intel Arc B580 clear the minimum but grade C (Tight) against the recommended: it runs, with less headroom. The GTX 1650, GTX 1060 6GB and Radeon RX 580 fall below the minimum.

On Steam Deck, Valve has not verified the game yet. Our spec-based estimate gives it an F and puts it below the minimum, so do not count on playing it there for now. We track it on the GRAVHOUNDS Steam Deck page.
