GRAVHOUNDS, the 1 to 4 player co-op action builder from Octopus Panic, launches tomorrow, November 2, in Early Access on Steam. You drop onto hostile planets with your pack, build and defend a base amid physics-driven mayhem, and extract with everything you can carry before the swarm eats you. The requirements are friendly to a midrange PC, but some very familiar graphics cards land just below the minimum.

GRAVHOUNDS PC requirements

These are the official requirements from the Steam page:

MinimumRecommended
GPUGeForce GTX 1660 or Radeon RX 590GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 5600X
CPUCore i5-7600K or Ryzen 5 1600Core i5-10600KF or Ryzen 5 3600X
RAM8 GB16 GB
Storage10 GB10 GB
OSWindows 10 64-bitWindows 11 64-bit

Both tiers require DirectX 12 and a broadband internet connection. On Steam the game is Windows only, with no Mac or Linux version.

Which GPUs run it

The line sits at the GTX 1660. Here is what canirun’s data says for the most popular cards:

  • Below the minimum: GTX 1650, GTX 1060 6GB and RX 580. If your PC has one of these, try the demo before you buy.
  • Clear the minimum, not the recommended: GTX 1660 Super, RTX 3050 and Arc B580. They grade C (Tight) measured against the recommended requirement: they get in, with little headroom.
  • Meet the recommended: RTX 2060, RTX 3060, RTX 4060, RX 6600 XT and RX 7600, all grading B (Solid). An RTX 3070, RTX 4070 or RX 9070 XT moves up to A (Smooth), and an RTX 5070 or RTX 5080 is overkill (S).

Memory matters too: the minimum is 8 GB, but the recommended tier asks for 16 GB, and canirun’s grades assume 16 GB of RAM.

Try the demo first

The free demo is still available on the Steam page, and it is the safest way to see how the game runs on your machine if you are near the line. On October 14 it got a stability patch that fixed crashes involving turrets, the multitool and the compass, along with a handful of gameplay and UI fixes.

The studio describes itself as a small independent team and says it wants to approach Early Access carefully, giving the community a real voice as the game moves toward 1.0.

What about the Steam Deck?

Valve has not verified it yet. canirun’s spec-based estimate is an F: on paper, the Deck falls below the minimum. That is only an estimate from the specs, not a test on the device. You can follow its status on the GRAVHOUNDS Steam Deck page.
