ArcheAge Chronicles after launch: tutorial fix, open issues and no Family Sharing
ArcheAge Chronicles had its first maintenance on November 4, fixing the tutorial blocker and other launch bugs. Here is what is still under investigation, why it does not support Steam Family Sharing, and whether anything changes for your PC.
In this guide 4
ArcheAge Chronicles launched in Early Access on November 3, and the next day XLGAMES had to take the servers down. On November 4 at 09:00 AM (PT) it ran maintenance to fix launch problems, including one that stopped players from progressing through the tutorial. If you bought the game and got stuck early on, update it through your Steam Library before you log back in. Right now it has 12,445 concurrent players on Steam. On November 3 we told you what it asks for on PC and which GPUs run it. Here is what has changed since.
What the November 4 maintenance fixed
According to the official notes, the maintenance fixed these bugs:
- Tutorial: progression should no longer get blocked under certain circumstances.
- Meliot: now appears in the cases where it previously did not.
- Altar of Seals: can be retried again.
- Whispers: private messages between players now display.
The studio also improved attack hitbox detection across Krogal’s combat patterns and disabled mutual attacks at the Pioneers’ Assembly Hall in the Conflict Channel. It also made four Diamond Shores quests abandonable and changed the Hereafter Stone so it can no longer be sold, though you can still discard it.
If the update button does not show up, XLGAMES recommends fully closing the Steam client and restarting it.
What is still pending
The same day, the studio posted a notice listing the main launch issues. It says it is investigating a bug in the Malchuk encounter: after you die, the boss may not appear again or you may be unable to respawn. It is also looking into progression issues with NPC dialogue. The maintenance notes do not list either of these as fixed.
Two more notices are worth reading before you buy:
- No Steam Family Sharing. XLGAMES says account sharing in an MMORPG can affect account management and the in-game economy, so every player needs their own copy.
- Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese use machine translation. Neither language is officially supported, and the studio warns that some terms may be inaccurate or sound unnatural. You can switch languages under Options > General > Language.
Does it change anything for your PC?
No. None of the notices mention performance or requirements, so the Steam listing is unchanged:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | RTX 2060 Super or RX 6600 (8 GB VRAM) | RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB or RX 7700 XT (12 GB VRAM) |
| CPU | Core i5-10400 or Ryzen 5 3600 | Core i7-12700 or Ryzen 7 5700X |
| RAM | 16 GB | 32 GB |
| Storage | 100 GB on SSD | 100 GB on SSD |
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
Both tiers target 1080p with upscaling in Quality mode: 30 FPS on Low for the minimum and 60 FPS on High for the recommended. Both require DirectX 12.
Of the GPUs we track, the RTX 3060, the RTX 4060 and the RX 7600 clear the minimum. Measured against the recommended, the RTX 4060 grades C and the other two grade D, so you have little headroom. The RTX 4070 clears the recommended and grades C, while the RTX 5070 and RX 9070 XT grade B. The RTX 2060 and Arc B580 fall short of the minimum. Keep in mind that our grades assume 16 GB of RAM, and the recommended spec asks for 32 GB.
Valve has not verified the game on Steam Deck yet. Our spec-based estimate is F, below the minimum. The details are on its Steam Deck page.
Can your PC run ArcheAge Chronicles?
Here is how your rig grades against ArcheAge Chronicles and two other big online worlds:
| Game | Rec. GPU score | Rec. RAM | Min. RAM | Your PC |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| | 22,650 | 32 GB | 16 GB | ? |
| | 21,750 | 16 GB | 16 GB | ? |
| | 22,650 | 32 GB | 16 GB | ? |
If you come up short, the game page shows your GPU’s grade and which upgrade raises it the most.
