Loftia is out in Early Access: 7,756 players and the GPU you need to join
Loftia, Qloud Games' cozy multiplayer world, launched in Early Access on Steam on November 3 for Windows and Mac. Here is the price, the requirements, which popular GPUs clear the minimum and recommended specs, and what to expect on Mac, Linux and Steam Deck.
In this guide 5
Loftia launched in Early Access on Steam on November 3, for Windows and Mac, and it has 7,756 concurrent players today. It costs $24.89 with a 17% discount. If you want to join your friends to farm, craft and decorate, the good news is that it is light: a GTX 1050 class card covers the minimum and a GTX 1660 covers the recommended spec.
On November 2 we went over the PC and Mac requirements ahead of launch. Now that the game is out, here is the Steam listing again and what came out of the demo.
Loftia PC requirements
These are the Windows requirements listed on Steam:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | GeForce GTX 1050 or Radeon RX 560 | GeForce GTX 1660 or Radeon RX 5600 XT |
| CPU | Core i3-10100F or Ryzen 3 3100 | Core i5-12600K or Ryzen 5 5600 |
| RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 10 GB | 10 GB |
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
| DirectX | 11 | 12 |
It is a multiplayer game, so both tiers require a broadband internet connection.
Which GPUs clear it
Every popular card we checked clears the minimum. Grades are measured against the recommended requirement, with 16 GB of RAM:
- GTX 1650: clears the minimum but grades D (Struggles) against the recommended spec. Expect to lower settings. See what else a GTX 1650 runs.
- GTX 1060 6GB and RX 580: C (Tight). They sit between the minimum and the recommended.
- GTX 1660 Super, RTX 3050 and Arc B580: B (Solid). All three meet the recommended spec. More on the GTX 1660 Super page.
- RTX 3060 and RX 7600: A (Smooth), with headroom over the recommended. See games for the RTX 3060.
Mac, Linux and Steam Deck
On Mac it needs Apple Silicon: Intel-based Macs are not supported. The minimum is an M2 chip with macOS 14.5 Sonoma and 8 GB, and the recommended is an M2 Pro with macOS 15 Sequoia and 16 GB. Qloud Games notes that MacBook Air models may need lower graphics settings and resolution, and that on 8 GB systems you should close other apps while playing.
There is no native Linux version.
Valve has not verified Loftia on Steam Deck yet. Our spec-based estimate gives it an F and puts it below the minimum, so treat that as a rough guide until there is an official rating. Details are on the Loftia Steam Deck page.
From demo to Early Access
During Steam Next Fest, Qloud Games said Loftia was one of the top demos of the Next Fest, and it shipped three patches between October 21 and 24. They fixed bugs such as being sent back to the login screen when checking House Showcase results, group neighborhood travel failing and furniture placement being blocked. None of those patches mention performance or requirement changes.
CGMagazine published its Early Access preview: it found good ideas, but the game did not grab the writer the way Animal Crossing or Story of Seasons did.
