Loftia, Qloud Games’ cozy multiplayer game about building a life on floating islands, opens in Steam Early Access tomorrow, November 3. It launches on Windows and on Apple Silicon Macs, and the news for PC players is good: it is light to run. A GTX 1050 and 8 GB of RAM are enough for the minimum spec.
The idea is to farm, craft, decorate your home and explore with friends in a shared world. Every player builds their own island and can link it with other players’ islands to form neighborhoods. The demo ran during Steam Next Fest in October, and the studio says it was one of the top demos there.
Loftia PC requirements
These are the official Windows requirements from the Steam page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | GeForce GTX 1050 or Radeon RX 560 | GeForce GTX 1660 or Radeon RX 5600 XT |
| CPU | Core i3-10100F or Ryzen 3 3100 | Core i5-12600K or Ryzen 5 5600 |
| RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 10 GB | 10 GB |
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
The minimum spec asks for DirectX 11 and the recommended spec asks for DirectX 12. Both need a broadband connection, since this is an online game. It runs on Unreal Engine.
Which GPUs clear it
Every popular card we checked clears the minimum. The grades below are measured against the recommended requirement:
- GTX 1650: clears the minimum and grades D (Struggles). It runs, but with little headroom.
- RX 580: clears the minimum and lands at C (Tight), between the minimum and the recommended spec. The GTX 1060 6GB lands in the same spot.
- GTX 1660 Super: meets the recommended spec with a B (Solid).
- RTX 3060: sits well above the recommended spec with an A (Smooth).
One thing to watch: the recommended CPU is a Core i5-12600K or Ryzen 5 5600, and the recommended spec also lists Windows 11.
On Mac and Steam Deck
On Mac, Loftia only runs on Apple Silicon. Intel-based Macs are not supported.
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| Chip | Apple M2 | Apple M2 Pro |
| RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 10 GB | 10 GB |
| OS | macOS 14.5 Sonoma or later | macOS 15 Sequoia or later |
The studio recommends active cooling for sustained performance and warns that MacBook Air models may need lower graphics settings and resolution. On 8 GB machines, close other apps while you play. For more games that run on your machine, see our Mac games list.
There is no Linux version on Steam. Valve has not rated Loftia for Steam Deck yet. Our spec-based estimate gives it an F and puts it below the minimum on paper, but that is only an estimate. You can follow it on the Loftia Steam Deck page.
Can your PC run Loftia?
Here is how your PC grades against Loftia and against Sky: Children of the Light, another relaxed social game to play with friends:
| Game | Rec. GPU score | Rec. RAM | Min. RAM | Your PC |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| | 11,250 | 16 GB | 8 GB | ? |
| | 9,500 | 8 GB | 8 GB | ? |
If you fall short, the full Loftia page shows which upgrade raises your grade the most.
