Escape Academy 2 launches tomorrow: Windows 10 and Linux specs, and the GPU you need
Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School launches November 5. It asks for Windows 10/11 (not just Windows 11, as we said before), 16 GB of RAM, a GTX 1050 Ti at minimum and an RTX 3060 recommended. We also cover the SteamOS and Linux specs and which GPUs clear the bar.

Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School launches tomorrow, November 5, on Steam, and before you install it we owe you a correction. On October 14, in our first requirements post, we said the game needed Windows 11. That was wrong: both the studio’s official announcement from October 13 and the Steam page ask for Windows 10/11, so Windows 10 works too. The Steam page also lists SteamOS and Linux requirements, which we did not cover in that post. The GPU and memory bar is the same: a GTX 1050 Ti and 16 GB of RAM at minimum, with an RTX 3060 recommended.
Escape Academy 2 PC requirements
These are the Windows requirements from the Steam page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB) | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (4 GB) |
| CPU | Intel Core i5-8400 | AMD Ryzen 7 2700 |
| RAM | 16 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 5 GB | 5 GB |
| OS | Windows 10/11 | Windows 10/11 |
The minimum asks for DirectX 11 and the recommended asks for DirectX 12. The part that stands out is memory: the minimum already requires 16 GB, the same as the recommended. If your PC has less, it falls below the minimum even when your GPU is fine.
SteamOS and Linux
The page lists a minimum spec for SteamOS 3 (Arch Linux-based): an AMD Zen 2 processor, AMD RDNA 2 graphics and 5 GB of space. There is no recommended spec for Linux. If you play on Linux, our Linux games list has more supported options.
Which GPU you need
Every popular GPU we checked clears the minimum. The difference is where each one lands against the recommended spec, which is what canirun’s grade measures:
- RTX 3060 and RTX 4060: meet the recommended spec and grade B. The RTX 3060 is the exact card the studio lists.
- RTX 4070 and RX 9070 XT: grade A, with plenty of headroom.
- RTX 2060, RX 7600 and Arc B580: clear the minimum but not the recommended, and grade C. They will run it, but it will be tight.
- GTX 1060 6GB, RX 580 and GTX 1650: clear the minimum but sit well below the recommended (D for the first two, F for the GTX 1650). Expect them to struggle, so plan on lowering settings.
What about Steam Deck?
Valve has not rated it yet. Our spec-based estimate gives it an F against the recommended spec. That is only an estimate built from the numbers on the store page, not a test on the Deck. Once Valve publishes its rating, you will find it on the game’s Steam Deck page.
Try the demo first
If you are unsure about your rig, the demo is the safest way to find out. On October 16 the studio updated it with major performance improvements, and it asks anyone who had trouble with the old version to give it another try. It also removed the save wipe at the end of the demo, because the studio is confident saves will not break between the demo and the full release. Two DLC adventures are coming later, according to the studio.
If your PC falls short, on November 3 we told you that Escape Academy 2 is also coming to Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Can your PC run Escape Academy 2?
Here is how your rig grades against the game’s recommended spec:
| Game | Rec. GPU score | Rec. RAM | Min. RAM | Your PC |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| | 17,050 | 16 GB | 16 GB | ? |
The full game page shows your grade with your detected GPU and RAM.
