NBA 2K27 gets a faster DLSS 5 model with Season 2: what your PC needs
NVIDIA's new, faster DLSS 5 AI model arrives in NBA 2K27 with Season 2 on October 16 and raises frame rates by up to 1.4X, according to NVIDIA. Here is what changes, the PC requirements and which GPUs clear them.
In this guide 5
On October 13, NVIDIA announced a new, more efficient AI model for DLSS 5, and NBA 2K27 is the first game to get it: it arrives with Season 2 on October 16. NVIDIA says the model boosts the game’s frame rates by up to 1.4X. If you play NBA 2K27 on PC with DLSS 5, you get more performance without changing your hardware.
What the new DLSS 5 model changes
DLSS 5 is the version of DLSS with what NVIDIA calls 3D-Guided Neural Rendering. The feature itself stays the same this week. What changes is the AI model behind it. NVIDIA says the new model performs better and raises frame rates in NBA 2K27 by up to 1.4X.
NBA 2K27 is the first game to get it, but not the only one. The same model powers DLSS 5 on RTX Spark laptops, which release on October 16. It will reach Hogwarts Legacy when the game adds support on November 5, and Where Winds Meet when DLSS 5 support is added later this year.
One thing to keep in mind: NVIDIA’s post does not say which RTX cards support DLSS 5, and it gives no per-GPU numbers. The “up to 1.4X” figure is the maximum NVIDIA quotes.
What you need to do
The new model debuts with Season 2 on October 16. On the game side, 2K posted the v2.0 patch notes on Steam, and that update releases on PC shortly before Season 2 starts. The patch is mostly about gameplay: shot contests, rebounds, dunks and Takeovers. NVIDIA’s post gives no extra steps for NBA 2K27, so the practical move is to have the game updated when the season begins.
NBA 2K27 PC requirements
These are the official requirements from the Steam page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | GTX 1060 5 GB, RX 5500 XT 4 GB or Arc A580 | RTX 2070 8 GB, RX 5700 8 GB or Arc A770 |
| CPU | Core i5-9400 or Ryzen 5 1400 | Core i5-10600 or Ryzen 5 3600X |
| RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 110 GB on SSD | 110 GB on SSD |
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
Three of these requirements are hard limits:
- An SSD is required, not just recommended.
- Your CPU must support AVX2.
- Your graphics card must support DirectX feature level 12.0.
Which GPUs run it
canirun grades are measured against the recommended requirement, with 16 GB of RAM. The RTX 3060, RTX 4060 and Radeon RX 7600 meet the recommended spec with a B (Solid). The RTX 4070, RTX 5070 and RX 9070 XT get an A (Smooth).
The GTX 1660 Super, RTX 2060, RX 6600 XT and Arc B580 clear the minimum but fall short of the recommended, with a C (Tight). The GTX 1060 6GB also clears the minimum, but with a D: it will struggle. The GTX 1650 and Radeon RX 580 fall below the minimum.
On Steam Deck, Valve rates the game Verified. You can find the details on NBA 2K27 on Steam Deck.
